Why Juneau?

Why would a conservator want to live in a town of 30,000 that is not on the road system and a three hour flight to Seattle?

I married a conservator who was already here. This picture is at Mendenhall Lake, 2001.

Hiking! Juneau is in the Tongass National Forest, a huge temperate rainforest. Juneau also has easily 100 fantastic trails, part of the gold mining heritage when miners criss-crossed the countryside in search of gold.
